Granger Firefighters Ernie Guerra, Laurie Guerra, Matt Guerra and Robert Bulpett spent saturday giving out information and teaching fire safety utilizing the EDITH House.
The morning started out early as firefighters set up an information table in the gym at the middle school. The fire department along with several other agencies provided health and safety information to people who attended the event. While firefighters Laurie Guerra and Robert Bulpett manned the table, firefighters Ernie Guerra and Matt Guerra brought EDITH House down from Station 95 in Yakima and set it up behind the Gym. After set-up, children and adults alike went through the fire safety props in the house and attended presentations put on by Ernie, Matt and Robert. Several prizes were given out and it looked like everyone had a great time. There were many children that vowed to go home and make sure their smoke alarms were working and create a fire safety plan. In addition several people signed up to receive a free smoke detector provided by Yakima County Fire District #5.
Special thanks goes out to Ernie and Laurie Guerra for taking the extra time to get qualified to operate and check out EDITH House. This will enable the department to use EDITH at other events. Thanks also to Robert Bulpett, Matt Guerra and Ernie and Laurie for giving their Saturday to attend this event. Many children and adults went away with a fire safety education. Thanks to all.
 Firefighters and the EDITH House
Fire erupts from the stove top while firefighters prepare to take a picture in the kitchen area of the EDITH House.
Firefighters are nearly overcome by smoke while posing for a picture in the bedroom section of the EDITH House. Great job Matt for checking to see if the door is hot before exiting!
